This school was relatively easy to get into. I went to community college for two years and held roughly a 3.0, but the overall application was quite easy. Getting a response from the admissions office took a while, and getting my questions answered by the admissions desk or even student services took a very long time.
I do not recommend coming to this college.

When I applied, it wasn't too difficult for me to get in because I had a high SAT (old) score and a 3.8 GPA in high school. I have heard though, that the university is being more selective in order to control class sizes and grow responsibly, which I think is a good thing. If you are an out-of-state student wanting to attend and the ACT is not the main test in your region, take it before you come to Grand Valley. GVSU bases all the class placements off your ACT scores, SAT scores mean nothing when it comes to class placement. I wasted my first weeks testing out of introductory classes since I did not take the ACTs

First of all, apply early, and apply for all of the scholarships available. I was an above average student and participated in many extracurricular activities in high school, and was awarded two scholarships, which both alone would have paid for my entire college. Every semester, I owed nothing on my account, and because my housing and tuition was less than the scholarship, the university cut me a check for the remaining balance they promised me, which I used to buy books.
